Blazers, Arrows compete at regional track meet

TROY & PIQUA — The track season came to an end for National Trail and Preble Shawnee during the Division II and III regional meets.

The meets were held at Troy High School Wednesday and Friday, May 24 and 26 and at Piqua High School Thursday and Saturday, May 25 and 27.

The top four in each event automatically qualified for the state tournament which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 2-3 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

Preble Shawnee freshman Cooper Shrout threw a career-best 47 feet, 9 inches to finish fifth in the Division II meet.

Freshman Sallie Montgomery finished 15th in the long jump with a leap of 15-4.25, while the boys 4×800 relay team of Ricky Mondello-Garrett, Jackson Weber, Case Roell and Taylor Bradley was 16th in 8 minutes, 52.55 seconds.

In Division III, National Trail’s Ollie Mason finished 13th in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.79. Hannah Henderson was 11th in the long jump with a leap of 15-0.75.

The girls 4×200 relay team of Mason, Jaylin Hurd, Gretchen Murphy and Henderson finished 14th with a time of 1:57.29.

Joel Hunt finished 12th in the 200 meters in 23.97 and Killian O’Conner was 11th in the shot put with a toss of 42-1.5.
