PSWCD Annual Meeting to be held at Hueston Woods

COLLEGE CORNER, OHIO — All residents of Preble County are invited to attend the Preble Soil & Water Conservation District’s 74th Annual Meeting and Dinner at Hueston Woods State Park on Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Here are the details of what will be happening that day:

10 a.m. until 6 p.m. — The Hueston Woods Nature Center will be open. It is located near the park office.

3 p.m. — Guided hike to the Hueston Woods State Nature Preserve to see some of the largest Tulip Poplar trees in the state of Ohio. Meet at the Blue Heron Trail parking lot.

4 p.m. — Pontoon boat tours on Acton Lake, departing from the dock behind the lodge. Advance reservations are required for the boat tours. Water quality educational exhibits will also be set up between the lodge and the dock.

5:30 p.m. — Annual Meeting and Banquet in the Tepee Room at the lodge. The Board of Supervisors’ Election will take place, followed by a meal and the evening program. Our after-dinner speaker will be the Ohio Department of Agriculture H2Ohio Program Director Terry Mescher, who will speak on water quality in Ohio. We will recognize this year’s Outstanding Cooperator and our newest Conservation Hall of Fame Inductee. We will round out the evening with conservation trivia and a boatload of door prizes. Reservations are required.

We welcome you to bring the whole family and join us for this free event. There will be plenty of activities for the kids to do during the meeting.

The pontoon boat tours and the annual meeting and banquet will take place at the Hueston Woods State Park Lodge located at 5201 Lodge Road, College Corner, OH 45003.
