VANDALIA — In a match that went down to the wire Wednesday between two top 10 teams, the Northmont girls varsity tennis team defeated Butler 4-1 in a non-conference match to improve to 11-4 overall.
With the loss Butler fell to 8-4 overall.
Butler’s lone victory came at 1st singles where Natalie Schoenherr scored a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Lily Braswell 6-0, 6-1.
At 2nd singles Erin Kelsey (N) defeated Hannah Faulkner (B) 6-1, 6-4.
In 3rd singles play Tyler Buxton (N) defeat Emma Filc (B) 6-0, 6-1.
At 1st doubles Kennedi Robinson and Makayla Hibbard (N) defeated Morgan Britton and Kaitlin Peyton (B) 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
Second doubles action saw Bridget Scranton and Addison Wilson (N) score a hard fought 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Ava Long and Ava Nicklaus.
In JV action Madison Evan/Meleeyah Milliner, Hailey Wheeler/Ashley Weiss and Mya Smedley/Makayla Blake all won their doubles matches while Miracle Akpan won her singles match.
Monday the Lady Bolts defeated Brookville 5-0.
1st singles – Braswell (N) defeated Lauren Kokladas (B) 6-1, 6-0.
2nd singles – Kelsey (N) defeated Ava Brandeberry (B) 6-0, 6-0.
3rd singles – Tyler Buxton (N) def. Emily Etter (B) 6-0 6-0
1st doubles – Robinson/Hibbard (N) defeated Briana Andel/Kara Thomas (B) 6-0, 6-0.
2nd doubles – Scrantoon/Wilson (N) defeated Dacota Pancake/Kate Ehler (B) 6-1, 6-0.
In JV action Evan/Milliner and Wheeler/Smedley won their doubles matches while Ashley Weiss won in singles.
Tuesday the Lady Bolts lost to Springboro, 5-0.
