Blue Devils tie

Miami East

BROOKVILLE – The Blue Devils varsity soccer team battled Miami East to a 1-1 tie Thursday, Sept. 21. With the tie Brookville moved to 6-2-4 overall while the Vikings moved to 4-3-1.

Aden Metcalf scored Brookville’s lone goal off an assist by Owen Sucher. Ayden Cowens made five saves in goal. Luke Haymaker scored for Miami East while Devin Abshire made 13 saves in goal.

T’bolts soccer

loses 2nd straight

SPRINGBORO – Northmont’s varsity soccer team suffered its second straight loss Tuesday 3-0 to Springboro.

The Panthers got two goals from Jaxson Edmonson and one goal and one assist from Jack Humanchuk. Senior goalkeeper T.J. Page earned the shutout with six saves.

Northmont fell to 8-3-0 overall and 3-2-0 in conference play while Springboro improved to 8-1-3 and 5-0-0.

Brookville volleyball

defeats Waynesville

WAYNESVILLE – After back to back losses to Eaton and Archbishop Alter, the Brookville volleyball team Sept. 26 defeated Waynesville in five games 25-18, 25-21, 12-25, 23-25, 15-13.

No player stats for the Lady Devils were listed. Brookville improved to 13-4 overall and 6-3 in league play while Waynesville fell to 6-8 and 3-4.

Northmont volleyball

MIAMISBURG – With a five game victory at Sidney and a three game victory at Miamisburg 26-24, 25-17 and 25-23 the Northmont girls volleyball team boosted its record to 9-8 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

Miamisburg fell to 2-13 and 1-10.

Lydia Bridenbaugh led Northmont with nine kills, 17 digs, two service aces, and one block at Miamisburg. Jenna Hall had nine kills, three digs, and one block. Elle Gilmore had seven kills and two service aces, one dig and one block.

Jadyn Johnson had seven kills, three digs and four blocks. Emma Lunsford had seven kills, eight digs and two blocks. Brianna Abels had two kills and nine digs. Ashlyn Long had one kill and 16 digs. Madelyn Hoff had 17 digs.

scores pair of wins

CLAYTON – Northmont’s girls tennis team scored back-to-back 5-0 victories over Carroll and Springfield to improve to 16-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

In the non-conference win over Carroll first singles play saw Lily Braswell defeat Lucy Buhrman 6-1, 6-0. Erin Kelsey defeated Ally Walls 6-3, 6-2 at second singles. At third singles Tyler Buxton scored a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Grace Iacobacci.

At first doubles Kennedi Robinson and Makayla Hibbard defeated Izzy Romeo and Meghan Parlette 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.

Bridget Scranton and Addison Wilson scored a 6-2, 6-2 win at second doubles over Kara Kates and Georgia Brust.

In JV action Miracle Akpan, Ashley Weiss, Hailey Wheeler, Madison Evans, Meleeyah Milliner, Mya Smedley and Makayla Blake all won their matches.

Tuesday the Lady Bolts scored their second straight shutout win against conference opponent Springfield.

First singles: Lily Braswell defeated Kalyssa Meisner 6-0, 6-0.

Second singles: Eron Kelsey defeated Molly Hensel 6-0, 6-0.

Third singles: Tyler Buxton defeated Dominga Bojhay 6-0, 6-0.

First doubles: Kennedi Robinson and Makayla Hibbard defeated Makayla McLean and Naveah White 6-0, 6-0.

Second doubles: Ashley Weiss and Hailey Wheeler defeated Loni Braden and Annabelle Lovenz 6-0, 6-0.

In JV action Miracle Akpan win her singles match.

Northmont will participate in the Troy sectional tournament on Wednesday, October 4.
