School board hires certified substitutes

BROOKVILE — The Brookville Local Schools board of education employed several certified substitutes for the 2023-2024 school year.

The certified teachers are Kate Ballin, Scherri Beighle, Brad Boyd, Yessica Burgoin-Lara, Lyndsay Calhoun, Marti Early, Noah Florkey, Whitney Florkey, Christa Fore, Mike Good Madison Harbaum, Laura Hiner, ,Jennifer Holcomb, Rhonda Horn, Kathy Hubley, Ashley Jackson, Crystal Lasher, Casey Lathrop, Rick Norris, Jennifer O’Meara, Annette Sommer, McKenzie Stacey, Victoria Steinbrunner, Jennifer Vance and Dianna Youngpeter.

The board also agreed to allow the district to employ substitute teachers who hold the one-year temporary non-bachelor’s substitute teaching license for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board employed several classified substitutes for the 2023-2024 school year.

The classified substitutes are Dick Baker, Sue Caplinger, Gale Colston, Marti Early, Tim Eller, LaDonna Goddard, Cheryl Hoops, Rhonda Karimian, Nick Lamb, Jacqueline Munn, Monica Palmer, Larry Payne, Janna Petrosky, Cathy Requarth, Michael Rettich, Neysha Sharritt and Ryan Wysong.

The board approved Marti Early as the English as a Second Language (ESL) program coordinator/tutor on a casual labor basis, hours not to exceed 7.5 hours a week at a rate of $20 an hour for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board issued Teresa Huelskamp a continuing contract as a teacher, effective Aug. 1, 2024.

The board employed Dennis Shank, Ray Watkins and Larry Payne as grounds keepers for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board approved the following extracurricular volunteers for the 2023-2024 school year:

• Emma Burton – seventh and eighth grade softball

• Greg Eaton – baseball

• Cam Millette – baseball

• Brandon Saylor – baseball

• Nick Tidd – soccer

The board accepted the retirement resignation of high school teach Amy Boyd, effective May 24, 2024

The board accepted the resignation of Kirsten Page as Junior Great Books advisor for the 2023-2024 school year.

The board of Education accepted the retirement resignation of custodian Scott Petry, effective Dec. 31, 2023.

The board granted Rebecca Fellers family and medical leave 12 weeks from delivery date.

The board approved the request for the Brookville High School track and field program to add indoor track and field for the months of January and February, The board approved Melissa Ross and Jon Bland as the volunteer coaches for the program.

The board approved the Brookville High School softball team’s April 1-5 trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The board had originally approved the softball team’s trip to Ft. Walton, Fla., on March 30 through April 7, but Brookville Schools Superintendent Jason Wood said the team opted not to go to Florida because of the cost.
