PERRY TOWNSHIP — Perry Township trustees started off 2024 with a new trustee and a new fiscal officer at its first meeting of the year on Jan. 9.

Joining the three-member board is Boyd Warner, a local realtor, who was elected in last November’s election. He’ll be serving with incumbents Melissa (Missy) Mears and Zach Music.

During a brief reorganizational meeting preceding the regular one, Music was chosen to serve as president in 2024 and Mears will serve as vice president.

Regular trustee meetings will continue to be held at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the township building, located at 3025 Johnsville Brookville Road, Brookville. Special meetings will continue to be held at specific announced times for various issues that require more immediate attention.

In keeping with the Sunshine Law, notice of meetings will continue to be made to the public and media on the trustees website, Facebook and outside the administration building. The website is www.perrytownship-mcoh.org.

Areas of responsibility were assigned for each trustee and a backup person as follows: Police – Mears/Music, Roads – Music/Mears, Cemetery – Warner/Mears, Zoning – Music/Mears and Administration building – Music/Warner.

The regular meeting began at 6 p.m. with a brief executive session to appoint a public employee. Township resident Jamie Evans was hired as the new fiscal officer, replacing Charity Grill, who had resigned.

Cemetery director Calvin Hoops reminded residents that March 1 and Oct. 1 are the required dates for people to remove all decorations from the gravesites.

Zoning Officer Karen Kayler wanted residents to know that trash bills were ready to mail.

The next regular Perry Township Trustees monthly meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Perry Township Administration Building, 3025 Johnsville Brookville Road, Brookville.
