Lady Bolts bowlers win tournament

CENTERVILLE — The Northmont girls bowling team on Jan. 13 won the Sweet 16 Tournament hosted by Centerville at Poelking Lanes South defeating Butler in the finals.

It was the Lady Bolts first tournament win of the season.

The tournament format for the Sweet 16 was a qualifying round of two games and two bakers to determine the seeding for bracket play. Bracket play was three bakers head to head highest pin count advances.

Game 1 – Paired with Oak Hills:

Northmont – 634.

Oak Hills – 638.

Northmont’s top score for game 1 – Junior Lily Riggleman 146.

After game 1 Northmont in 10th place.

Game 2 – Paired with Miamisburg:

Northmont – 719.

Miamisburg – 641.

Northmont’s top score for game 1 – Junior Maddie Smith 186.

After game 2 Northmont moved up to 6th place.

Two Baker Games – Paired with Oak Hills:

Northmont – 132 & 154.

Oak Hills – 108 & 131.

After baker games Northmont qualifies as 6th seed for bracket play.

Bracket Play: Three Baker Games.

Northmont – 140, 139, 181 = 460.

Sidney – 134, 116, 149 = 433.

Round 2 vs No. 3 seed Batavia:

Northmont – 129, 182, 141 = 451.

Final Four Round vs No. 7 seed Greenon:

Northmont – 201, 147, 181 = 529.
