Clayton 240000054: Police responded to the 6700 block of Oakfield Dr. where a resident found a bullet hole in the roof of his garage and later found the bullet inside a Christmas tree box in his garage. Police responded to the home but no one answered the door. An officer called the resident who stated he was out of town and would not be back for a week. The resident stated he was taking Christmas lights off the exterior of his home on Jan. 2 when he located a hole on his roof above the garage. He stated he thought the hole was caused by workers when they recently repaired his roof. He used silicone to patch the hole. The next day while in his garage he located a bullet in his Christmas tree box. He stated he did not call police when he located the bullet because he did not think Clayton had the forensics technology to deal with it. The resident believes the bullet is from a high-powered rifle but was unsure because he had not measured it yet. The resident still has the bullet and will turn it over to police once he returns home. The resident sent photos that he took of the damage and of the bullet that he found.
