Clayton 240000115: Clayton officers heard Englewood Police call out that a vehicle was actively fleeing from them and was headed south on State Rute 49 with no visible registration. Clayton officers did not join the pursuit but patrolled the area. A Clayton officer driving south on Taywood Road observed the suspect vehicle turn north on Taywood from Westbrook Road. The vehicle, a black Chevy S-10, pulled into the lot of Meadowbrook Apartments and became disabled. The driver bailed out and ran north into a wooded area. An Englewood officer was able to identify the driver after speaking to a passenger in the S-10 that did not flee. Officers from Englewood Clayton and a Perry Township K-9 unit began searching the area for the suspect. The suspect’s address was listed on Countrydale Court in Clayton, which was less than a mile away. Officers responded to the address on Countrydale and another resident confirmed the suspect was inside. Officers began giving commands for the suspect to exit the home with nothing in his hands and warning him that a K-9 was being deployed without restraint. The suspect began yelling from the basement that he was coming out. Officers held the suspect, Joshua D. Thompson, 36, of Clayton, at gunpoint until he was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody by Englewood Police.

Brookville 2400034: An officer came upon a two-vehicle crash at the eastbound entrance ramp to Interstate 70. Due to both vehicles not being at the original alleged crash scene the officer was unable to determine the at fault driver due to conflicting stories.

Clayton 240000128: A resident reported receiving an email from PayPal regarding a purchase of $855 from BTC. The resident called a phone number in the email and spoke to a male named Frank who instructed her to download the ‘Anydesk’ app through which he was able to access her bank account. The victim attempted a test run of the app to deposit $100 but her account showed a deposit of $10,000. The male on the phone stated he could not backout of the $10,000 deposit and instructed the victim to go to her bank to withdraw the funds minus the $855. He then instructed the victim to go to a Marathon gas station in Huber Heights to deposit $8,500 into a Bitcoin machine. The victim told police she was sent a QR code on her cell phone from the male which she used to scan and the send the Bitcoin money. The victim stated the $10,000 deposit later disappeared from her bank activity. Police advised the victim there was no way they could track the money once it was sent, but that the report would be forwarded to the detective section for investigation. Police advised the victim to close her bank accounts and to add identity theft protection as well as to notify the credit bureaus as she could not remember if she provided her Social Security number to the male.
