Spelling, geo bee students honored at PS

CAMDEN — During its Tuesday, March 12, regular meeting, the Preble Shawnee Board of Education recognized several students in the district for their achievements in local and county spelling and geography bee competition.

Board member Dr. Lisa Tuttle-Huff recognized the geography bee participants.

“It is with great pleasure that we take this opportunity to recognize the incredible achievements of our young scholars in the realm of geography,” she read. “The Geography Bee is not just a test of knowledge, it is a testament to passion, dedication, and intellectual curiosity that each of our participants embodies.

“Understanding geography is important and it is so much more than just knowing the locations of countries and capitals. It also involves the understanding of diverse cultures, land5capes, and environments that make the world the place it is today,” she continued.

“We would like to recognize all of our participants. Each of you have demonstrated a passion for learning and a willingness to push yourselves beyond your comfort zone. Regardless of what round you made it to, your dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed.

“Our students have embraced this challenge with enthusiasm and determination, spending countless time studying maps, memorizing facts, and focusing on their geographic skills. Their commitment to excellence is truly commendable, and today, we have the privilege of recognizing their outstanding achievements.”

Preble Shawnee’s Elementary Team included Isaiah Cunningham, Nathaniel Horrigan, Ronald (Botley) New and Shiloh Seals. The Middle School Team included Maxwell Back Emma Hatton, Blayne Nelson and John (Bryce) Osborne.

According to the presentation honoring the spelling bee participants, “This event is not just a test of who can spell the most words, it is a showcase of determination, perseverance, and intellectual excellence.

“In a world where effective communication is paramount, mastery of language and spelling is a fundamental skill. Our students have embraced this challenge with enthusiasm and dedication, demonstrating their commitment to academic excellence,” it continued.

“We would like to recognize all of our participants. Each of you have demonstrated courage, determination, and a passion for learning. You have all shown incredible resilience and perseverance, and for that, you have our utmost respect and admiration. Today, we have the privilege of recognizing your outstanding achievements.

“An additional congratulations to Paxton Brewer, who represented Preble Shawnee Middle School at the Preble County Spelling Bee. Your extraordinary command of language and spelling has set you apart as a true wordsmith, and your victory is a testament to your hard work and dedication. We are immensely proud of your accomplishments and the example you set for your peers.”

Spelling bee participants included Paxton Brewer, Abby Leach and Olivia Wicks.
