Eaton used a five-run second inning, highlighted by a three-run homer by sophomore Madison Copper, to defeat Preble Shawnee 9-0 in the season opener for both softball teams on Monday, March 25. Copper went 2-for-4 on the day with four RBI. Freshman Ella Statzer added two hits and drove in two runs. Junior Meredith Pieratt pitched a complete game one-hitter while striking out 14. She also went 3-for-4 at the plate. Eaton added three runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to round out the scoring.
