Resurfacing project set to resume on Ohio 122

PREBLE COUNTY — A pavement repair and resurfacing project in Preble County is scheduled to resume, with construction getting under way on Ohio 122 at the start of the month.

On Monday, April 1, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will begin work on Ohio 122, where they will be repairing pavement and resurfacing the route between Wolverton Road and the western corporation limit of Eaton.

Throughout the project eastbound Ohio 122 will remain open, and traffic will be maintained through the work zone with the use of flaggers during daytime hours of operation. Westbound Ohio 122, however, will be closed to traffic in segmented sections, with the first segment between Wolverton and Daily Road to be closed April 1 through June 4.

This will be followed by a two-month closure of westbound Ohio 122 between Daily and Toby roads, from June 4 through August 3, and then a two-month closure between Toby Road and the city of Eaton, from August 3 through October 7. Throughout construction within any of the closed segments, westbound traffic will be detoured via U.S. 127, Ohio 725 and Ohio 177, Indiana Route 227 and Old SR 122 in Indiana.

Construction also included repairing pavement and resurfacing on Ohio 122 within the section between State Line Road at the Ohio-Indiana border and Wolverton Road, as well as U.S. 35 between the eastern corporation of the city of Eaton and Preble County Line Road, and this work was completed during the 2023 construction season.

Barrett Paving Materials, Inc., was awarded a contract in the amount of $11.7 million to complete the project, and the remainder of the project is scheduled to be completed in the fall.
