Blazers softball suffers shutout loss

CENTERVILLE, Ind. — National Trail’s softball team suffered a 15-0 loss Monday at Centerville, Ind. The Bulldogs generated 11 hits while the Blazers committed 11 errors.

Jocelyn Collins, Anna Davis, Harmony Owens, Aubrey Seifer, and Madi Yount had two hits each for Centerville. Davis also stole two bases.

Hailey Elsrod struck out 12 and allowed just two hits with no walks to earn the victory. Haydn Davies and Morgan House accounted for National Trail’s base hits. Davies also stole a base.

Centerville took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning. Owens drew a walk, Yount got hit by a pitch, and Drew Tubesing also got hit by a pitch to load the bases. Collins hit a ground out to third to score Owens.

Seifer reached base on an error that allowed Yount and Tubesing to score. Davis reached base on an outfield error that enabled Seifer to score. A walk and a stolen base brought another run home.

A triple by Owens, an error, and a walk by Haven Walter helped Centerville extend its lead to 9-0 in the 2nd inning. Collins singled in the third to drive in another run and the Bulldogs scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth including an RBI double by Owens and an RBI single by Collins.

Collins went two for four with three runs batted in.

Breanna took the loss for National Trail allowing two earned runs on six hits with five strike outs and three walks.
