Blue Devils score 3-0 victory over Madison Mohawks

MIDDLETOWN — After a 6-5 extra innings loss Monday to Bellbrook, the Brookville baseball team bounced back with a 5-4 victory at Eaton on Tuesday and a 3-0 victory at Middletown Madison on Wednesday.

Against Madison the Blue Devils took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Landon Trent drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on an error by the pitcher. Kayde Baker drew walk.

Lane Willoughby grounded out to third with Trent advancing to third and Baker to second. Cole Crabtree singled to right to score Trent and Baker for a 2-0 advantage.

Brookville added another run in the top of the third. Braden Chambers led off with a line drive double to left and Nathan Waggoner singled to third. Waggoner advanced to second on an error on the throw with Chambers scoring.

Hunter Gray pitched the no hit shutout for Brookville. He worked all seven innings, allowed no hits, no runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.

Crabtree went one for three with two RBIs and Waggoner went three for four with an RBI to lead the Brookville offense.

Austin Harden took the loss for Madison. He pitched six innings, scattered five hits, surrendered three runs with four walks and one strike out. Brayden Dickensheets pitched one inning in relief, allowed one hit and no runs with two strike outs.

With the victory Brookville improved to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in league play. Madison fell to 4-3 and 1-2.
