Homeschool Hour: Alternative Energy

Learn all about solar power, wind power, and other ways to make electricity at the April Homeschool Hour. Open to all homeschool students and educators, this class will teach you about some of the latest ways our electricity is being generated. Homeschool Hour is on Wednesday, April 20 at 3 p.m. in the Preble County District Library meeting room at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton.

Board Game Night

If you find yourself bored on Tuesday, March 22, you should head to the New Paris Library for Board Game Night! From 5:30-7 p.m.

Easter Egg Hunt

Meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for eggs at the West Elkton Library on Wednesday, March 23. The egg hunt starts at 4:30 p.m.

Create, Explore, and More: family program

At the Eaton Library on Saturday, April 9, families can delve into our different creative and exploratory stations together. We’ll have heat-sensitive putty, a giant Connect 4 game, instant snow, and more! Drop-in between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. and have fun as a family!

Bernoulli Ball tween craft (ages 8-12)

In April, you’ll learn to make a device to levitate a ball in mid-air! See the Bernoulli Principle in action! The tween craft will be at the:

Spring crafts

Celebrate the coming of spring with a unique craft at the Eldorado and West Manchester library branches. We’ll have refreshments afterwards. The Spring Make It-Take It will be at the West Manchester Library on Wednesday, April 13 at 4:30 p.m. and at the Eldorado Library on Thursday, April 14 at 4:30 p.m.

Earth Day crafts

Celebrate Earth Day with crafts at the library. The New Paris Library will have an Earth Day craft on Friday, April 22 at 11 a.m. The West Alexandria Library will be recycling old crafts left over from other programs on the same day at 12 p.m.

Teens (grades 6-12)

Teen Creative Writing Group

Local teens can spur their creative juices at the Teen “Write On!” writing club. We’ll have creative writing prompts, snacks, and you can talk with other teens about writing. You can share aloud, but you don’t have to.

Join us on Tuesday, March 15, at 3:30 p.m. at the Eaton Branch Library (301 N. Barron St.). Registration is required. Register in person at the library or call 937-456-4331.

Super Smash Bros. Tournaments

We’ll be playing up to 8-player Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U in March! Every player wins a prize, and the tournament champion will win a Pikachu hat! Snacks will also be provided. Play in the Super Smash Bros. Tournament at the Eldorado Library on Thursday, March 31 at 4:30 p.m.

Pokken Tournament

Try the newly released Pokken Tournament game for the Wii U! We’ll play tournament style, and the top player will win a Pikachu hat! Everyone will leave with a prize, and we’ll have snacks during the tournament! You’ll have two chances to win at the Eaton Library. Join us on Tuesday, March 22 at 3:30 p.m. or Friday, March 25 at 3:30 p.m. Registration is required for the Pokken Tournaments. Register in person at the Eaton Library or call 937-456-4331.

Teen Anime Club

Like anime? Teens in grades 6-12 can watch anime, try Japanese snacks, and make anime/manga inspired crafts at the Eaton Library. The next Anime Club meets Tuesday, April 5 at 3:30 p.m.

Furnishings of early Ohio

Learn about the wide range of goods both made and used on the Ohio frontier at the Preble County Room on Saturday, April 2 at 1 p.m. The library will welcome Andrew Richmond, who will take you through how trade networks and consumer choice played key roles in the furnishing of Ohio frontier homes. The presentation is free to attend. It will be held at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton.

Tea Party

Join us for the West Manchester Library’s inaugural monthly tea party. On Wednesday, April 27 at 3 p.m., we’ll have tea and a treat and discuss the latest books and movies. Make sure to stay for the adult craft at 4 p.m., where we’ll be making Tussie-Mussie holders.

Eldorado Library book sale

Throughout the month of April, check out the Eldorado Library for a large selection of fiction and nonfiction books, with titles available for adults, teens, and kids. The book sale will run during open hours, which are 12-6 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and 1-4 p.m. on Saturday. All sales are by donation only with no set prices. Take what you like and give as much as you can, as all proceeds go back into the Eldorado Library.
