WEST ALEXANDRIA — The West Alexandria Celebration Committee held its second annual Spring Fling on Saturday, April 13. The event began with a craft bizarre and breakfast with the Easter Bunny. In the afternoon, there was an egg hunt sponsored by the West Alexandria Kiwanis.
According to Celebration Committee Treasurer and Secretary Michelle Laughlin, the event functions as a fun activity for local families and a fundraiser for Santa Villa and the Fourth of July Fireworks.
“We are trying hard to have events to draw interest into our community, to have events for the families in our community, it is also a fundraiser for our annual Fourth of July Fireworks and our Santa Villa, where the kids get a free toy, hat, gloves, books, candy cane, and other gifts,” she said.
“I hope families have a sense of community and they see that we are trying in our community to bring family friendly events to our area. I hope the businesses also benefit by people coming into the community and seeing the businesses in the town.
“We hope that everybody enjoys any and all of our events. That they will hopefully support the events so we can keep them going and maybe be able to do more events in the future.”
