LEWISBURG — Lewisburg Container donated approximately 47 toys to the Village of Lewisburg on Saturday, Dec. 7. Those toys were then donated to Preble County Christmas for Kids, making it easier to provide presents for many kids throughout the county.

According to Lindley Johnson, Customer Service Representative; Pratt (Lewisburg Container) LLC., each year before the holidays, they hold a Christmas party for the children and grandchildren of employees.

“This is something that Lewisburg Container has been doing since 1956, and it’s become a wonderful tradition over the past 63 years! It’s such a fun day for our employees to come in and unwind with their children and loved ones, while interacting with fellow coworkers and their families,” she said.

“Most importantly, we have a chance to really meet our coworkers one-on-one and get to know the little ones that they work so hard for everyday; of course as an added bonus we get the opportunity to give back and show our appreciation to our employees by celebrating the most important people in their lives — their children!

“The kids are invited to enjoy snacks, create fun crafts with their parents and grandparents, and of course Santa is here each year to take pictures and pass out presents! We typically start planning several months in advance choosing age specific toys for both boys and girls; ages newborn to 12 years.

“As far back as I can recall, we have made it a point to order two extra of each gift with the intention of donating to local charities in hopes of giving back to our community! This year was a fantastic year for the Christmas party and to my knowledge we were fortunate enough to have donated over 40 toys of all age ranges, to the Village of Lewisburg in coordination with the Lewisburg Fire Department.”

She added, they always seek to donate the extra toys to charities or organizations in Preble County.

“That’s something that we’ve been very proud to stand behind over the years. This business was started here and has succeeded over the years with great support from the Village of Lewisburg and Preble County,” she said. “We feel this is a simple gesture to our neighbors who put forth so much effort to helping others.

“We’ve worked closely with many Preble County charities and this year we wanted to give back to our hometown! Lewisburg is a wonderful place to live and work, the community has really grown over the years and that’s something that we see on a daily basis. There’s so much good, that Lewisburg does for others, through food drives and community events that we felt this was our opportunity to give back to a community that gives so much!”

Their thought process behind giving the gifts to the Village of Lewisburg focused on giving back to a community that they’ve have been a part of for years. Once dropped off at the Lewisburg Fire Department on Saturday, Dec. 7 the gifts were to be distributed as the village saw fit.

On Tuesday, Dec. 10 the gifts were picked up and delivered to Preble County Christmas for Kids during the second distribution day. The gifts included high-ticket items like scooters and other toys which will make Preble County children very happy on Christmas day.

“Ultimately we support Preble County as a whole, and we’re happy with the outcome of the toy distribution as Lewisburg saw fit. As long as we are able to help put a smile on the face of a little boy or girl, that’s the most important thing we could ask for,” she said.
