EATON — On Tuesday, Nov. 1, Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson accepted a donation of $1,500 from the local Optimist Club.

“The Eaton Optimist Club is donating money to the Preble County Special Deputies Incorporated, which is the auxiliary arm of the Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Mike Simpson said of the presentation on Tuesday. “That donation will be used to help offset costs associated with the K-9 program.”

“We’re always thankful for anyone that wants to help support it,” Sheriff Simpson said. “The Optimist Club has always been a supporter of law enforcement, for years, and this is just another way that they’re showing their support for us. We appreciate the dollars and we’ll put it to good use.”

According to Optimist Club Chair Ken House, the club has always supported law enforcement, and for years has helped with recognizing an “officer of the year” during National Peace Officer Week in May.

Last week Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson accepted a special donation from the local Optimist Club from club member Ken House. The funds will help support the K-9 program, according to Simpson.
