EATON — Eaton High School held its annual girls soccer camp June 27-30. The four-day camp offered fun and exciting fundamental instruction for girls in grades 4-8, at the high school.
A typical day of camp offered 90 minutes of warm-ups, games, basic fundamental drills, and a short game between campers. The final day of camp featured a competitive game with prizes for the eager participants.
“I’m very excited with the youth here, we have about 3o girls here,” Coach Michael Bacher said “The main thing that I’m trying to promote is numbers here. The last couple of years, we barely had enough numbers for two teams, the JV and varsity. So were trying to reach out and show the youth that soccer is fun and that participating in multiple sports is a bonus”
“The high school girls have been a help this year,” Bacher added. “It’s a good thing to have them here. Last year, we only had about 12 girls out here, but this year on opening day, we had over 23. It’s not mandatory that they come out, so to see so many here is a good thing. I’m looking forward to our upcoming season.”
“The kids are showing tremendous improvement so this has been a great time,” Bacher said.
