EATON — The 2016 Preble County Fair is seeking entries for artwork to be displayed during the weeklong event, which runs July 30-Aug. 6. Residents of all ages are eligible to enter, amateur or professional, and work in any medium may be entered.
“It’s a great opportunity for people in and around the county to showcase their work,” said Vicky Fanberg, executive director of the Visual Arts Center of Preble County. “It’s an open format and easy to get involved, and it’s especially a great entry point for people who haven’t presented at the Arts Center before as a way to get used to exhibiting, because it can be a little stressful, especially for new artists.”
People may enter during the check-in at the Visual Arts building at the fairgrounds (722 S. Franklin St.) on Thursday, July 28 from 4-7 p.m. and Friday, July 29 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. All entrants must purchase a $25 fair membership/weekly fair pass and, additionally, pay 25 cents for each entry. Residents who have already purchased fair memberships need only pay the 25 cent per item fee.
Interested parties can find more details in the Fairbook available at the Secretary’s Office on the fairgrounds, or pick up a copy of the Visuals Department section of the Fairbook by visiting the Visual Arts Center of Preble County (601 Hillcrest Dr.). The arts center is open Tuesday through Friday from 1-6 p.m., and until 8 p.m. on Thursdays. The center will be closed during fair week. The phone number is 937-456-3999.
