CAMDEN — Preble Shawnee High School Theatre will be performing “How the West was Grimm” this weekend. The show will be held on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 at the Preble Shawnee Junior High/High School Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 presale and $8 at the door.

Tickets can be bought presale by calling the school or seeing a cast or crew member.

Seniors Tristan Finney, Cameron Gadd, Sean Allen explain the show as being about “Grimm’s fairy tale characters in a western setting.” The character of Grimm is a circus ring leader who wants the town to become his own circus. The characters have to band together to save the town.

“With this show, it is very different from ones we’ve done before. I know we’ve done a western show before, but this one we get to be fairy tale characters and notable characters. We’re characters that everyone expects to see, but a different way,” Allen said.

“They’re all thrown into a setting that doesn’t fit them either. It’s a hodgepodge of fairy tale characters and one guy wants to rule them all,” Gadd said.

“I also like that the comedy in this play is fit for all different audiences. Whether you’re three years old, or 80, I think the comedy kind of relates to everybody. It is jokes that are meant to make you laugh and feel good humor,” Finney said.

For Director Adam Albright, the cast may be very small this year, but they’re dedicated to the craft and work hard despite a shorter practice schedule, due to snow days.

“They’ve done a nice job coming together and working very hard on it. They’ve been pleasurable to be around,” he said. “The seniors have been a great part of the leadership of this play. We’re super excited about the show. This isn’t a well known show, but we are still expecting a great crowd because we have put on wonderful shows in the past and people are getting used to the talent we can produce.”

Albright also gave a special “thank you” to the following individuals: Kathleen Hoeper, Sylvia Arcuragi, Kirstin Fallang, and many others.
