WEST ALEXANDRIA — The West Alexandria Branch of Preble County District Library is hosting an inaugural Betty White Challenge pet supply drive throughout January.
“Betty White was an icon on and off the screen. She was a lifelong supporter of animal causes and worked with several animal health, welfare, and conservation groups throughout her career,” said Michelle Laughlin, Branch Manager at the West Alexandria Branch. “Betty was often quoted that she stayed in showbusiness to pay for her animal business, and we wanted to honor her legacy by giving back to the animals in need within our community.”
Donations from the pet supply drive will benefit the Preble County Humane Society, a no-kill facility serving the area for over 40 years. The most requested items are bleach, laundry detergent, dish soap, scrub brushes, all-purpose cleaner, dry cat food, pate canned food for cats, cat litter, dry adult dog food, and puppy chow. Donations can be dropped off at the West Alexandria Branch, located at 16 North Main Street, West Alexandria, OH 45381, during regular business hours.
In addition to the pet supply drive, anyone who drops off donations to the West Alexandria Branch on Jan. 17 — White’s 101st birthday — will receive a Betty White bookmark and be entered into a raffle to win a copy of Betty White: Collector’s Edition from Big Little Golden Book.
