Tornado siren testing

Preble County will begin monthly tornado siren testing on Wednesday, March 1, at noon. All sirens in the county are activated simultaneously. Residents are reminded that monthly siren testing occurs on the first Wednesday of each month at noon, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, sirens will not be tested.

Live staking on Twin Creek

Volunteers are being sought for a live staking on Twin Creek on Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Live staking will help protect stream banks from erosion, prevent pollution from entering the stream, and provide a natural habitat for birds, fish and mammals. Volunteers will meet at Lewisburg Community Park, 100 Tillman Lane in Lewisburg. Volunteers will join the Ohio River Foundation to help plant the dormant live stakes. Volunteers should dress for the weather,wear waterproof shoes (rain boots or waders preferred) and bring work gloves if possible. All tools will be provided. Advanced registration is required. Road closure

Cox Road is closed between 9240 Cox Road and the Indiana state line, beginning at Paint Road and ending at State Line Drive, for nine weeks beginning Monday, Feb. 27, for a full bridge replacement. For additional information, contact the Preble County Engineer’s Office at 937-456-4600.

TCN Kindergarten registration

Tri-County North Local Schools began its online kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school year beginning Monday, Feb. 27. Online registrations run through Friday, March 10. Visit the website at www.tcnschools.com and click on the “Student Registration” tab to begin the enrollment process through Final Forms. 2023-2024 kindergartners must be five years old on or before Aug. 1, 2023. The week of March 20, parents will receive an email through Final Forms to sign up for an appointment to bring in the required documentation. Document drop off will be by appointment the week of March 27-31, and will be held in the TCN District Office. The following must be submitted for all new students:

• A certified birth certificate from the Health Department (note: a hospital birth record is not acceptable.)

• Original copies of any child custody orders, decree or modifications of orders relevant to the child

• Physician’s immunization records

• Three forms of proof of residency (refer to www.tcnschools.com for a complete list of acceptable forms of proof of residency.)

BOE meeting scheduled

The Preble County Board of Elections will meet Saturday, March 4, at 9 a.m., for its reorganizational meeting and any other business brought before the board. The meeting will be held at Junction Village Mall. Signage will be posted of the exact location.

NT Senior Citizens Luncheon

The National Trail Local Schools administration, staff and students invite all residents of the National Trail School District aged 60 and over to enjoy lunch, entertainment, prizes and fellowship, Friday, March 24, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the school. Continued road closure

Brubaker Road at Brubaker Covered Bridge is closed for an as of yet undetermined period of time, beginning at Ohio 122 and ending at Aukerman Creek Road due to damage to the bridge incurred in a traffic crash. No traffic is permitted.
