Kids’ Fishing Day

Following a special rainbow trout stocking by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife, Eaton Parks & Recreation will host its first Kids’ Fishing Day at Crystal Lake Park on Saturday, April 8, from 9 a.m.-noon. The daily harvest limit for inland lakes is five trout per angler, and this limit will be adhered to during Kids’ Fishing Day at Crystal Lake. ODNR officials will be on site during the event to help monitor and educate. No fishing will be permitted at Crystal Lake all day Friday, April 7, to 9 a.m., Saturday, April 8. Children 15 years old and younger do not need a fishing license to participate.

Toby Road closure

Toby Road, between mailboxes 1238 and 1363, beginning at Miller Williams Road and ending at Washington-Jackson Road, will be closed for approximately 8 weeks for a full bridge replacement beginning Monday, April 10. For additional information, contact the Preble County Engineer’s Office at 937-456-4600.

EHS Senior Brunch

On Thursday, April 13, at 10:45 a.m., Eaton High School will be hosting a senior citizens brunch and entertainment. Brunch will begin at 10:45 a.m., and then those attending will move into the Performing Arts Center for the entertainment, which will be the spring musical.

TVS Senior Dinner

Twin Valley South High School, with the financial support of four local service organizations, will be sponsoring a senior citizen dinner on Tuesday, April 18, at 5:30 p.m. The dinner is free to all senior citizens in the Twin Valley Community Local School District. Reservations may be made by calling the school office at 937-839-4693 or 937-839-4688. The deadline for reservations is Friday, April 14. “Something Good” will be performing following the dinner. The service groups making the dinner possible are the Alpha Kappa Sorority, Coterie Club, West Alex Lions Club, and West Alex Kiwanis Club.

Aggregation informational meeting

A representative from Palmer Energy will provide information regarding electric and natural gas aggregation at 5 p.m., Monday, April 17, at the Eaton City Building, 328 N. Barron St., Eaton. This informational session will precede the regular meeting of Eaton City Council which will begin at 6 p.m.

DORA to be topic of public hearing

There will be a public hearing to discuss an application for creation of a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) in downtown Eaton during Eaton City Council’s Monday, April 17, regular meeting. City council meetings are held in the council chambers located in the Eaton City Building, 328 N. Maple St., at 6 p.m.

Continued road closure

Brubaker Road at Brubaker Covered Bridge is closed for an as of yet undetermined period of time, beginning at Ohio 122 and ending at Aukerman Creek Road due to damage to the bridge incurred in a traffic crash. No traffic is permitted.
