Caretaker’s brother to move into cabin

BROOKVILLE — Park board agreed to make an adjustment to the Golden Gate Park caretaker’s agreement that will allow the caretaker’s brother to move into the park’s cabin with her.

The request to the park board was made by park caretaker Diana Slade, who indicated her brother, David Dennis, will help her in maintaining the park.

Park board president Adam Blevins, reading from the report by city manager Sonja Keaton, who was not present at the park board meeting, stated Slade’s request must be approved by the park board.

“Currently in the caretaker’s agreement, Section B, subparagraph 7, persons other than the caretaker shall only reside in the caretaker’s cabin if approved by the Brookville park board trustees,” Blevins read from Keaton’s report.

“If approved, the law director will prepare the addendum to the caretaker agreement,” Blevins read from Keaton’s report.

Keaton, in her report, pointed out there is a maximum of three people residing within the caretaker’s cabin at any one time.

“He’s already been helping me out doing a few things and he has been very helpful,” Slade told the park board.

“I don’t really plan for him to do a lot as far as building-wise, but as far as cleaning up the park, he’s really good at doing that kind of stuff,” Slade continued.

Park board member Carolyn Haney said she had no objections with Slade’s request.

“From what I read, it sounds like he will be an asset and help to you,” Haney said.

Blevins agreed.

“I make a motion to make an adjustment to the caretaker agreement which will allow the brother of the Golden Gate Park caretaker move into the park’s cabin with her,” Blevins said.
