BROOKVILLE — Troop 47 of Brookville, is now partnered with a new chartering organization. In 2022, the Brookville Amvets Post 1789 became the official chartering organization for the troop.

At the top of the charter organization is Jeffery Bang, executive officer, with Phlip Hart as the charter organization representative. Todd Clemmons is the committee chairman and Matt Moler is scoutmaster for the troop.

Troop 47 is in its 106th year and was first chartered in 1917. The troop is the oldest continuously chartered troop in the United States. The troop has had 101 Eagle scouts in its 106-year history. The troop is chartered as a boy troop with 19 active scouts and 11 adults in 2023.

The Amvets are an ideal partner with the troop. They share many of the same ideals and participate in patriotic duties such as veteran ceremonies, flag raisings, flag retirements, and other service projects for the community.

“The Amvets community has enthusiastically welcomed the troop,” remarked Scoutmaster Moler.

He also stated that Amvets “has been very supportive of the troop and pack activities, including helping scouts go to camp.”

Troop 47 meets every Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the scout shelter at Golden Gate Park. Anyone who wants more information about the troop activities or joining the troop may contact Scoutmaster Matt Moler at (937) 239-5758.
