Blue Devils defeat Tri-County North

BROOKVILLE — In a non-conference game at home Monday, the Brookville varsity baseball team scored an 11-1 victory in five innings over Tri-County North to open the season.

The Blue Devils scored one run in both the first and second innings, added five more in the fourth and four in the fifth to secure the run-rule victory.

Seth Hoover went two-for-two, had one steal, scored twice and had one RBI. Brody Webb went two-for-three, stole a base and scored three runs. Kayde Baker went one-for-two with two runs. Brandon Waggoner went one-for-three with one run and a stolen base. Hunter Gray went one-for-two with two RBI.

Josh Cooper drove-in one run, Sam Fullenkamp had one RBI and Jace Wood scored twice and had a pair of RBI.

Josh Cooper pitched three innings, surrendered one hit, one earned run, walked four and had seven strikeouts. Nathan Waggoner pitched two innings, gave up one hit and had five strikeouts.

Tri-County North freshman Grayson Reynolds went one-for-one with one RBI and Braylen Keener went one-for-two.

Tuesday the Blue Devils defeated Dayton Christian 10-0 and Wednesday defeated National Trail 11-2 to improve to 3-0.

Josh Cooper went one-for-two with two RBI and one run against Dayton Christian. Kayde Baker went two-for-three with one run and one RBI. Sam Fullenkamp went two-for-three with three runs and one RBI.

Coltin Lawson belted a double in his lone at-bat and scored one run. Brandon Waggoner went one-for-two with a steal and two runs. Nathan Waggoner went one-for-two with two RBI. Braden Chambers went one-for-three with one run. Jace Wood went one-for-three.

Hunter Gray earned the victory pitching three innings with four strikeouts.

“I’m happy with the way we’ve continued to grow. We put together our best overall game against a good National Trail opponent in game three,” said Brookville coach Tyler Eaton.

“We’ve had the chance to get some guys some valuable innings off the mound and are still coming together offensively. There’s a lot of room to grow and our best baseball is in front of us. I’m looking forward to seeing how these guys compete in Florida against some top competition,” Eaton added.
