WEST ALEXANDRIA — The Twin Valley South Board of Education received and accepted numerous resignations during its Monday, March 27, board meeting. They also voted to table a decision regarding opening bids for the bus facility.

The board received and accepted the following resignations: Josh Senters, Director of Pupil Services, at the end of the contracted 2022-2023 school year; Grace Scarberry, high school English Language Arts, at the end of the contracted 2022-2023 school year; Ted Oldiges, high school and middle school Industrial Tech, at the end of the contracted 2022-2023 school year; Chris Fogle, high school Mathematics, at the end of the contracted 2022-2023 school year; Amanda Huelsman, Intervention Specialist, at the end of the contracted 2022-2023 school year and Destinae Sims as Assistant Treasurer effective at the end of the 2022-2023 contracted year.

The board thanked those resigning for their service to the school and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavors.

In other business:

• Superintendent Scott Cottingim recommended awarding a contract for the district’s Bus Maintenance Facility Project to Brumbaugh Construction Inc., as the lowest, responsive and responsible bidder for the project.

According to Cottingim’s report, “Sealed bids were received, opened, read aloud, and tabulated on March 20, 2023, and Brumbaugh’s bid of $1,392,000 for the base bid plus accepted allowances of $75,000.00 and acceptedAlternate 1 of $8,000 was the apparent low bid.”

According to Cottingim, the design of the new facility is, “functional, by no means is it elaborate, but meets all of the needs.”

Board member Jason Delong made the motion to pull the vote from the agenda to allow time for consideration, and potentially lower bids.

The board voted unanimously in favor of tabling the decision for a later date.

The Twin Valley Community Local Schools Board of Education holds a meeting on the fourth Monday of every month, at 100 Education Drive, West Alexandria, in the school media center, at 5:30 p.m.
