LEWISBURG – The Lewisburg Comic-Con hosted its second flea market fundraiser, Sunday, April 23, at the Lewisburg Community Center on East Clay Street.

“Today is our second flea market and it’s much bigger than it was last year. This one is nice because it is indoors and outdoors, so we have more options,” said Maria Flaherty, coordinator for the Lewisburg Comic-Con. “We have lots of vendors, food, crafts, all kinds of things.”

Flaherty noted, the Lewisburg Comic-Con plans to host a flea market fundraiser every year, the proceeds of which help support the organization’s larger annual event, the Lewisburg Comic-Con, which is scheduled for June.

“If the opportunity comes up, we’re going to try to have another (flea market) around the holidays — we’re going to try that, too. But we don’t know for sure yet,” Flaherty added.

Kaitlyn Killen, owner of Katie Did It baked goods, commented on the importance of small events within the community. “Anytime you can get out and show what you’re making, actually bring people in and get them interested, I think is a very important thing,” she said. “I’m waiting for people to dress up, too! I’m waiting for everyone to come out. But no, I think it’s a good cause, for sure. Meeting the community, I think is very important, too. Just meeting everyone and talking to people, people remembering who you are and where you have been is very important, as well.”

The 2023 Lewisburg Comic-Con is scheduled for Friday, June 23, and Saturday, June 24. “That’s a big event. It’s going to be even bigger this year. We already have surpassed all the numbers from last year. We have way more vendors already. So, it’s going to be a huge event and we’re really happy about that,” Flaherty concluded.

The vendors attending the flea market fundraiser included Cheryl’s Country Kitchen and Avon, Byrd Cage Custom Creations, Euphemia Soap Company, Journey Paige, Katie Did It, Hope’s Homemade, DC’s Burgers and More, and Frontline Coffee.
