Thunderbolts defeat Elks and Versailles

CLAYTON — After suffering a 1-0 loss Wednesday at Centerville, the Northmont Thunderbolts turned the tables to defeat the Elks 6-1 on Thursday at ‘The Yard.’

Northmont scored one in the first and five runs in the third while limiting Centerville to one run in the top of the fourth inning.

Nate Teller earned the victory. He pitched five and two thirds innings, scattered four hits, walked three with six strikeouts and no earned runs. Connor Price gave up one hit in relief.

Centerville committed three errors and Northmont had one.

Brandon Hoops went 2-for-3 with one RBI and Jamir Ross went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs. A.J. Conti went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Jacob Beck drew a pair of walks and scored one run. Teller drew a walk and also scored a run.

Luke Sutter led the Elks with two hits in three at bats. Max Doepker pitched three innings and got tagged for five hits and six runs, one earned, with three walks and three strikeouts. Miles Whitesell pitched three innings with five strikeouts and two walks.

Saturday the Thunderbolts swept a doubleheader from Versailles by scores of 13-3 and 7-6 in 10 innings.

In game two the Tigers scored three runs in the first inning and two in the third. The Thunderbolts answered with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth. The game was tied 5-5 after seven innings.

Both teams scored a run in the eighth with Northmont scoring the winning run in the tenth to walk away with the 7-6 win.

Nate Teller led Northmont by going 3-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases, two runs and two RBIs. Christian Pendleton went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, drew a walk, and scored one run. A.J. Conti went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, got hit by a pitch and scored twice.

Tucker Serieka went 2-for-4 with one run and two RBIs. Jamir Ross went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and one run. Andrew Shingler went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Brandon Hoops went 1-for-2 with a walk and scored a run. Maddox Simmons went 1-for-1 with a run and one RBI. Chris Gross went 1-for-1 and scored a run. Jacob Beck drew a pair of walks and scored twice.

Pitching stats show Drew Carver working four and two thirds innings allowing seven hits, three earned runs, with four walks and two strikeouts.
