Northmont softball team defeats Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — With a four run seventh inning the Northmont girls fastpitch softball team secured a 7-2 road victory Wednesday over the Lady Wildcats.

The Lady Bolts trailed 2-1 after one inning but tied the score in the top of the second, added one run in the fourth and put the game away with four in the seventh.

Northmont improved to 14-9 overall and to 5-7 in Greater Western Ohio Conference play while Springfield fell to 3-17 overall and 0-10 in the GWOC.

Zoey Hodge earned the victory by pitching all seven innings. She gave up two hits, no earned runs with one walk and six strikeouts.

Freshman Jadyn Johnson led the offense by going 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Sophomore Sydney Strickland went 2-for-4 with two runs. Freshman Lacie Knick went 3-for-4 with two triples, one run and one RBI.

Hodge went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Emily Bole went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Cardie McCormick went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Sam McGilton went 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Shelby Shingler went 1-for-4 and Jaiden O’Dell Howard scored a run.
