Devils rout Miami East in five innings

CASSTOWN — It took the Blue Devils a few innings to get their bats going, but when they did the runs came fast and furious.

Brookville scored six runs in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth on a combined total of 12 hits to score an 11-0 victory over the Vikings in five innings.

Sam Fullenkamp led the Blue Devils with three hits in three at bats with a double, scored three runs and had three RBIs.

Brandon Waggoner went 3-for-4 with a double, scored twice and drove in a run. Nathan Waggoner went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Braden Chambers went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Kayde Baker scored twice and had two RBIs and Brody Webb scored a run with one RBI. Coltin Lawson went 1-for-1 and scored twice.

Hunter Gray went 1-for-2 with one RBI and pitched all five innings, scattered two hits, no runs, with one walk and four strikeouts.

In their previous two games the Blue Devils lost to Carlisle 11-3 on May 8 and 10-0 on May 10. Brookville’s record stands at 15-11 overall and 4-9 in league play.

Tonight, the Blue Devils will host the sectional final against the winner of the West Liberty-Salem vs. Anna game.
