Arrows advance to regional

PIQUA – Two individuals and a relay team from Preble Shawnee have advanced to the regional after placing in the top four during the Piqua Division II district track meet Thursday and Saturday, May 18 and 20.

As a team, the boys finished 11th with 25 points, while the girls were 13th with 11.5 points.

The Arrows boys 4×800 relay team set a season best with a time of 8 minutes, 37.69 seconds to finish fourth. The team consisted of Ricky Mondello-Garrett, Jackson Weber, Case Roell and Taylor Bradley.

Sallie Montgomery placed third in the girls long jump with a leap of 16-2.5 inches to advance.

Cooper Shrout finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 43-11.25 to move on. Shrout also finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 132-5.

Brody Lynch placed in two events. He finished sixth in both the discus and shot put with throws of 126-5 and 40-5.5

Case Roell placed sixth in the 800 meters in 2:08.64 and was seventh in the 1,600 in 4:57.81.

For the girls, Olivia Riggs was seventh in the high jump, clearing 4-5.

Kathryn Hall placed fifth in the pole vault clearing 7-0.

The regional meet will be held Thursday and Saturday, May 25 and 27 at Piqua High School. Field events are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. with running events set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
