Blazers sending six to regionals

PIQUA — Six athletes from National Trail’s track teams will continue their seasons moving on to compete in the regional track meet next week at Troy High School.

The Piqua Division III district meet was held Tuesday, May 16 and Saturday, May 20. The top four in each event qualified for this week’s regional meet to be held Wednesday, May 24 and Friday, May 26.

As a team, Trail’s boys were 12th with 18 point and the girls were ninth with 19 points.

The first qualifier during the district meet was Hannah Henderson. She finished fourth overall in the long jump with a jump of 15-6. The second field event qualifier was Killian O’Connor in the shot put. Killian threw 42-1.25 and tied for 4th. After a tie breaker, he was awarded 4th overall.

On the track, the girls 4×200 team of Henderson, Jaylin Hurd, Ollie Mason, and Gretchen Murphy ran a season’s best time of 1:56.78 and placed fourth. Ollie Mason also qualified third in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 51.61. The final qualifier of the day was Joel Hunt who finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with 23.68.

Other athletes scoring for the Blazers were: Joel Hunt, seventh in the 400; Tayten Reynolds finished eighth in the 400; Judith Denlinger was seventh in the 3200; and the 4×200 relay team of Hunt, Jody Wintrow, Reynolds, and Nick Brubaker placed seventh. relay
