Blue Devils win D-II district track meet

PIQUA — Several strong performances by Brookville athletes at the Division II district track meet in Piqua propelled the Blue Devils to first place in the boys team standings with 118.50 points ahead of second place Waynesville with 105.

The top four placers in each event advanced to the regional meet, which will also be held in Piqua on Thursday, May 25 with field events at 5 p.m. and running events at 6:30 p.m. The meet continues on Saturday, May 27 with field events at 11 a.m. and running events at 12:30 p.m.

Sophomore Coy Hyre won the 100 meter dash in 10.83 seconds. Alex Kidwell finished 7th at 11.42. Hyre also won the 400 meter dash in 51.39 seconds with Keegan Mehr 2nd in 51.89. Hyre placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash in 22.53.

The 4×200 meter relay team of Walt Adams, Keegan Mehr, Kory Davis and Tim Davis took 1st place in 1:31.18.

Kory Davis placed 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles at 14.12 seconds narrowly edged out by Dunbar’s Dai’Vontay Young at 14.09. Young and Davis broke the old district record of 14.15 seconds set in 2011 by Bryan Cain of Chaminade-Julienne.

Tim Davis also advanced to regional in the 110 hurdles placing 4th in 15.62 seconds and took 1st place in the 300 meter hurdles in 40.75. Kory Davis was 8th in the 300 hurdles at 43.36.

Brookville placed 3rd in the 4×100 meter relay. Walt Adams, Alex Kidwell, Tim Davis and Kory Davis finished in 44.17. C-J took 1st at 43.78 with Waynesville 2nd in 44.13.

Lucas Tipton placed 4th in the 800 meter run in 2:07.44. Wes Kitchin of Eaton took 1st in 2:03.09. Evan Pentecost (Brookville) finished 11th at 2:13.50.

In the 4×400 meter relay Keegan Mehr, Walt Adams, Coy Hyre and Dane Moore placed 2nd in 3:38.84.

Bronson Stacy placed 2nd in the shot put at 44-feet, 8.5-inches. Trenton Brooks finished 13th at 34-feet, 10.25-inches.

Stacy placed 3rd in the discus at 134-feet, 7-inches. Garrett Peters finished 7th at 123-feet, 6-inches.

The 4×800 relay team of Lucas Tipton, Kyle Bland, Dane Moore and Evan Pentecost finished 5th in 8:51.45.

James Booth finished 8th in the long jump at 18-feet, 6.75-inches.

Christian Seitz finished 6th in the 3200 meter run at 10:48.37 and Rollin Brandeberry was 11th in 11:47.36.

Keegan Mehr finished 8th in the high jump at 5-feet, 4-inches.

On the girls side the Lady Devils finished 7th with 29.50 points.

Mallory Hoover placed 3rd in the high jump at 4-feet, 7-inches. Grace Hinton just missed the cut placing 5th at 4-feet, 5-inches.

The 4×100 meter relay team of Molly Luebke, Grace Taylor, Grace Hinton and Leah Neff placed 3rd in 52.04 seconds.

Ava Peters finished 5th in the long jump 15-feet, 4.5-inches. Sophia Koewler finished 17th at 13-feet, 5.75-inches.

The 4×800 relay team of Hunter Gardner, Serenity Suggs, Logan Barr and Dylan Ballin finished 7th in 10:35.18.

Brooke Puskas finished 8th in the 100 meter dash 13.86 seconds.

Hunter Gardner finished 6th in the 1600 meter run in 5:50.40. Lindsay Rieder finished 10th in 6:24.23.

Serenity Suggs finished 12th in the 800 meter run in 2:41.87.

Dylan Ballin finished 6th in the 3200 meter run in 12:34.37.

The 4×400 relay team of Grace Taylor, Logan Barr, Lilly Wilson and Leah Neff finished 8th in 4:20.67.
