Northmont athletes qualify for regional meet

TROY — Several Northmont track and field athletes qualified for regional with strong performances at the Division I district meet held at Troy last Wednesday and Friday.

The girls track team placed fourth overall. The Lady Bolts had four relay teams advance to regional, qualified in the shot put, with runners qualifying in the 100 meter dash, 300 hurdles, 200 meter dash and two qualifying in the 3200 meter run.

Only the top four finishers in each event qualified for regional.

Kaley Underwood, Paige Auxier, Jazlen Simpson, and Zoey Evers took 1st place in the 4×400 relay with a time of 4:06.21.

The 4×800 relay team of Serra Drosdak, Jazlen Simpson, Libbi Mergler and Abby Drosdak placed 4th in 10:15.62.

Yuania Wilkinson-Harper placed 4th in the shot put at 33-feet, 11.5-inches.

Raylin Turner placed 4th in the 100 meter dash in 12.79 seconds.

In the 4×200 relay Zoey Evers, Raylin Turner, Iyanna Thompson-Carson, and Kaley Underwood placed 2nd in 1:45.83.

The 4×100 relay team of Julianna Gunn, Iyanna Thompson-Carson, Jaida Garrett, and Raylin Turner placed 3rd in 51.44 seconds.

Kaley Underwood placed 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles in 46.32 seconds.

Zoey Evers placed 4th in the 200 meter dash in 26.04 seconds.

Abby Drosdak placed 1st in the 3200 meter run in 11:20.72 and Serra Drosdak placed 4th in 12:16.05.

Other athletes that competed but did not advance to regional included Lilia Lopez finishing 10th in the 400 meter dash (1:08.27).

Amelia Brown placed 5th in the 1600 meter run (5:48.69) and Brianna Pressel was 11th (6:08.32).

Jazlen Simpson placed 7th in the 800 meter run (2:31.27) and Libbi Mergler was 11th (2:35.99).

Ariane Eloi finished 16th in the long jump (13-feet, 9.25-inches) and Chloe Maiken 18th (13-feet, 8.5 inches).

Logan Fast placed 7th in the discus (102-feet, 1-inch) and Yuania Wilkinson-Harper finished 16th (76-feet, 9-inches).

For the boys Northmont placed 5th overall. The Thunderbolts took 1st place in the 4×800 relay with Reed Diller, Lukas Rieben, Jackson Morgret and Daron Porter clocking at time of 8:12.85.

Dorian Brew took 1st place in the 100 meter dash in 10.75 seconds.

Daron Porter took 1st place in the 800 meter run in 1:57.35.

Northmont placed 3rd in the 4×100 relay with Jae Grigsby, Deuce Cortner, Braylen Russell and Will Paige coming in at 42.96 seconds.

Lukas Rieben placed 2nd in the 3200 meter run in 9:56.13.

Eli Pettis placed 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles in 41.81 seconds.

Other athletes that competed were Jackson Morgret placing 8th in the 3200 meter run at 10:28.22.

Troy Crosby placed 5th in the discus at 132-feet, 1-inch with Ike (E-K) Nwanoro finishing 11th at 114-feet, 2-inches.

Larry Lockwood finished 14th in the pole vault at 10-feet, 0-inches.

The 4×200 relay team of Jae Grigsby, Dorian Brew, Deuce Cortner and Nigel Glover would have earned 5th place with a time of 1:32.95 but were disqualified for a lane violation.

Reed Diller placed 5th in the 1600 meter run in 4:41.10 and placed 7th in the 800 meter run at 2:05.56.

The 4×400 relay team of Daniel Ivory, Deuce Cortner, Michael Goffinet and Daron Porter placed 5th in 3:32.27.

Troy Crosby placed 8th in the shot put at 40-feet, 6.25-inches and Charlie Henson finished 16th at 36-feet, 7.75-inches.

Owen Prince finished 16th in the high jump at 5-feet, 3-inches.

The regional meet, featuring 63 schools, will be held Wednesday, May 24 at Wayne High School with field events at 5 p.m. and running events at 6:30 p.m. The meet continues Friday, May 26 with field events at 5 p.m. and running events starting at 6:30 p.m.
