EATON — The Preble County Historical Society has announced a new addition to its collection of Preble County’s history.

Brittany Corwin, Director of History and Collections, was overjoyed to see the new display of the Frame-Borgwardt Collection recently contributed to the PCHS, located at 7693 Swartsel Rd in Eaton. The display is a culmination of nearly fifty years of genealogical work of Gene Frame, of Germantown.

The items and information highlight two ordinary hard-working farm families of Preble County from the mid-1800s forward who did what they could to make the land work for them. Walter Allen and Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Borgwardt-Frame had their share of joys and hardships during their fifty-five years of marriage and five children, two dying at early ages. Along with the two young children, Walter and Lizzie, and Borgwardt family members are buried at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis.

The Frame-Borgwardt Collection can be viewed at the Preble County Historical Society on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m., Thursdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m., or by appointment.
