MIAMISBURG — The competition was tough Aug. 8 when the Brookville golf team traveled to Pipestone Golf Club to compete in the Miamisburg Invitational.

Pipestone features several narrow fairways, many lined by trees on both sides requiring accurate shots.

The Blue Devils placed 18th out of 22 teams with a round of 401.

St. Xavier took 1st place with a score of 303 followed by William Henry Harrison (305), Centerville (307), Indian Hill (308) and Talawanda (309) rounding out the top five scores.

Drew Holt led Brookville with a round of 91. Landon Trent carded a 99, Isaiah Hoff had 103 and Troy Peak finished at 108.

“We didn’t perform to our potential, but this was our first 18 hole tournament of the season on a challenging golf course,” said Brookville coach Cory Caudill.

Daelon Wackerman finished with a 110 and Jackson Kleismit had 111.

“For several of our underclassman, it was the first time they’ve seen the course,” Caudill added. “Ultimately, this will serve as a great baseline to measure our growth over the course of the season. We will return to Pipestone for the OHSAA Sectional on Sept. 28.”
