Grace Brown scores 1st collegiate goal

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Saint Mary’s soccer team (1-1) was strong from start to finish in a 2-0 win over crosstown foe IU-South Bend in the Belles’ home opener on Wednesday evening.

Lauren Ryan (Carmel, Ind./Westfield) registered her first collegiate goal, which was also good for the game-winner in the match.

Grace Brown (Brookville, Ohio/Northmont) added the Belles’ second goal – also her first collegiate goal in just her second match for Saint Mary’s – on her sole shot of the game.

Mary Kaczynski posted a handful of shots with one on goal. Margaret Slove added three shots with two on goal.

Seven players registered a shot in the contest for the Belles as Saint Mary’s out-shot IU-South Bend 18-8 and 10-5 on shots on goal.

Caroline Miklavcic (Frankfort, Ky./Frankfort) collected five saves on her way to the shutout victory in goal for the Belles.
