BROOKVILLE — As Queen Molly Luebke and King Drew Holt watched on Homecoming night, the Brookville Blue Devils were never challenged as they rolled the Carlisle Indians 35-7 to improve to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the SWBL Buckeye Division.

The Blue Devils forced a pair of turnovers and turned them into 14 points. Save one long Carlisle drive that ended in a punt and a 98-yard touchdown run by the tribe, Brookville controlled the line of scrimmage from the get-go. According to Brookville Football Historian Larry Myers the 98-yard TD run was the second longest against Brookville in school history. It was also the first time Brookville ever beat Carlilse 35-7.

According to Brookville Stat crew members Aaron Crabtree and Jeff Davidson, Brookville outgained Carlisle 402 yards to 171, had 25 first downs to nine, ran 70 plays to 51, owned time of possession 28:45 to 19:15, and converted four of five red zone chances into 28 points on four touchdowns.

Taking away the 98-yard touchdown run, Brookville actually held the Indians to 73 total yards, with most coming on a 19-play drive that resulted in a punt while taking over 11 minutes off the clock.

On the first play of the game Cole Crabtree made a leaping interception of a pass at the Indian 42. A five-play drive ensued with Walt Adams covering the final 15 yards on a sweep. Adams booted the PAT and Brookville led 7-0 with 9:02 on the first quarter clock.

Brookville forced a punt and started from its own seven. Kory Davis ran for seven, Adams for 17, and Davis again for three before Keegan Mehr scrambled and picked up 24 yards to the Indians 40.

Mehr tossed a deep pass that Sam Fullenkamp outfought a pair of Carlisle players at the five to snag the ball. Then Fullenkamp spun away and trotted into the end zone for the second Blue Devils touchdown.

There was no scoring in the second quarter and the Devils went to the break leading 14-0. In the third period Brookville drove 61 yards in seven plays and took 3:13 off the clock to extend the lead. Jake Lenser had a couple of nice runs in the drive. The big play was a pass from Mehr to Kory Davis that moved the ball to the Indians 17 and covered 42 yards. Finally, from the one, Mehr scored on a QB sneak play and it was 21-0 Brookville.

Brookville’s Fullenkamp recovered a fumble and the Blue Devils moved 29 yards in seven plays for their fourth touchdown. Again, Mehr scored from the one, this time on a broken play. It was 28-0 Brookville after three quarters of play.

Early in the final Frame Brookville was stopped inches short of the goal line on fourth down. Following a short pick-up to the two, Carlisle’s Ethan Hamm circled right end, broke free at the sideline and then scampered 98 yards for a touchdown. It was 28-7 with 5:40 remaining in the game.

The Blue Devils then capped the game with a seven-play, 50 yard drive following recovery of an onside kick. Jake Lenser plunged the final yard for a touchdown and Brookville would win the game by a final score of 35-7.

Individual stats in the game for Carlisle Ethan Hamm had 113 yards on six carries and a touchdown. Luke Richards had 62 yards on 19 totes. Cooper Steckel was one for five passing for 4 yards. Tanner Riley had the only reception and gained four yards for the Tribe.
