EATON — Eaton senior Ramy Ahmed joined an exclusive club this past weekend.

Ahmed topped 1,000 career point mark on Friday, Jan. 12 during a 49-48 win over visiting Middletown Madison.

Ahmed entered the game needing just one point to reach the milestone.

“I am beyond incredibly proud of what he has accomplished hitting the 1k mark,” Eaton coach Sean Sims said. “He has put a lot of time in and worked incredibly hard to reach this milestone. I am very thankful and grateful to have the opportunity to be his coach at Eaton and he joins a very small group of incredible players in Eaton history, which he deserves. He has supported me and had my back since the first day I came to workouts and I can’t thank him enough for all of his hard work, support and for his love for the game of basketball! He is a true example of someone who is dedicated and works hard, and I am so proud of the man that he has become.”

Eaton fell behind 13-7 after one and trailed 24-17 at the half. The Eagles rallied in the second half, outscoring the Mohawks 18-13 and 14-11 in the third and fourth quarters to get the win.

On Saturday, Eaton knocked off visiting Edgewood 58-52 in overtime.

Eaton trailed 17-13 after the first quarter then outscored the Cougars 20-9 in the second to take a 33-26 at halftime.

Edgewood outscored Eaton 14-10 and 8-5 in the third and fourth quarters to force overtime.

Eaton outscored the Cougars 10-4 in the extra frame to get its second straight win.
