Bulldogs too much for Lady Devils

WEST MILTON — For just over two quarters Brookville hung with a very good Milton-Union Lady Bulldogs basketball team last week.

However, Milton went on a ten-point run in the third period and pulled away for a 53-31 victory. The win was the 13th on the season for Milton-Union against two losses. Brookville dropped to six and ten overall.

Brookville drained a three early in the second half to trail 21-20. Milton scored the next ten points and led 38-27 after three periods of play. After the Lady Devils scored the first points in the final frame Milton outscored Brookville 15-2 the rest of the way to win 53-31.

The quarter scores were nine-seven Milton; 21-17 Bulldogs at the half; 38-27 after three stanzas; and the final of 53-31.

The Blue Devils shot 32 percent during the game, one of their better efforts on the season. Brookville was 11-34 from the field including 6-21 from three-point land.

Brookville had 17 turnovers during the game. Milton-Union shot 52.6 percent making 20 of 38 shots during the contest. That includes three of seven from long distance. Milton outrebounded Brookville 25-14.

Jenna Brumbaugh was the best player on the court during the game. Brumbaugh had 26 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Ava Berberich added 12 for the Bulldogs.

Ashlee Haupt led Brookville with 15 points. Abi Stanoikovich added five points. Alysaa Lackey tallied five markers; Jordyn Oliver scored three points and had a team high four rebounds. Sara Carr scored two points. Hunter Gardner had one point and a team high four assists.
