Every year I try to give a peek of the movies coming out made from books.

Many of you know I like science fiction and I am lucky this year because there are many but don’t despair there is something here for all ages and genres.

I hear it all the time that people like to read the book first before seeing the movie. So, get your popcorn ready here are some of my choices:

March 1 Netflix

“Spaceman of Bohemia” by Jaroslav Kalfar. A scientist goes to a far planet and finds life there and they can talk to each other. Starring Adam Sandler as the giant spider’s voice.

Sci-fi classic Dune by Frank Herbert will be back for part two with Timothee’ Chalamet. Looks like this will be at the theaters.

March 21 Netflix

Liu Cixen’s Three Body Trilogy

Aliens are coming but earthlings are either denying that, glad of that or tuning out. Space and time and physics are a big part of this story.

March 29 in theaters

Mickey7 is a movie based on the book Mickey by Edward Ashton. The movie will star Robert Pattinson.

A man travels to a frozen planet to make it inhabitable for humans and survives for awhile fixing it up for the rest of us. He is cloned each time with full memories and starts from where he stopped. He is immortal but how is this affecting him?

Welcome back Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series. A two part series featuring Penelope from the book “Romancing Mister Bridgerton” This is a Regency historical romp for all.

Nov. 27 in theaters

“Wicked, The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Mcguire. Just think of the special effects they can do with movies. I loved the book, the show, can’t wait.

“The Sympathizer” a Pulitzer prize winning novel by Viet Thank Nguyen.

A north Vietnam mole is placed into the south Vietnam army before coming back to America.

“Spiderwick Chronicles” by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black was a film in 2008 but condensed five books into one. This series will take each book and expand the stories as they were meant to be.

I am also looking forward to “Harold and the Purple Crayon” out this summer but don’t know much about the details. Good for kids of all ages. So, there you have it. These titles appealed to me for overall watching. Check the age level. Take your picks and don’t forget that popcorn.
