BELLEFONTAINE — The Northmont girls wrestling team placed 4th and the Brookville girls 5th out of 63 teams Jan. 26-27 at the Iron Maiden Tournament at Bellefontaine.

Northmont scored 119.5 points and Brookville 117.5. Marysville took 1st with 218 points, Delaware Hayes 2nd with 136 and Centerville 3rd with 130.5.

The Lady Devils 5th place finish was remarkable given the fact that the team had only six wrestlers competing in the 14 weight classes.

At 110 pounds Molly Luebke scored five pins and at 140 pounds Rita Carey had four pins. Both finished as champions in their respective weight classes.

At 145 pounds Lily Zimmerlin recorded three pins to place 4th. At 135 pounds Kylee Jones had two pins to place 6th. Lily Wilson, 105 pounds, also had two pins.

For Northmont Lacie Knick took 1st place in the 125 pound weight class. Knick also placed 1st at last year’s Iron Maiden.

Shelby Walker was 4th at 190 pounds, her first time competing in this weight class.

Kaitlyn Tanner placed 7th in the 115 pound weight class and Olivia Roussel was 7th at 120 pounds.

Macey McCargish dropped one weight class to compete at 130 pounds and it took her competitiveness to the next level as she placed 7th.

Other wrestlers that won matches to contribute to the Lady Bolts 4th place finish were Delani Brandonisio (100 lbs.), Ava Ostrov (110 lbs.), Kaitlyn Tanner (115 lbs.), Breanna Harris (155 lbs.), and Tyre’Elle Turner (190 lbs.).
