MIAMISBURG — With 49.5 points Northmont’s wrestling team placed 6th out of eight teams at the Greater Western Ohio Conference wrestling championships Saturday at Miamisburg High School.
Springboro took 1st place with 214.0 points, Centerville 2nd with 169.5 and Miamisburg 3rd with 150.
Landon McCargish (So.) of Northmont (24-5) placed third at 144 pounds with a pin (2:41) against Brady Willman (Sr.) of Miamisburg (25-8). Arslan Bekirov (Sr.) of Centerville (30-10) took 1st place with 5-4 decision over Max Weimer (Fr.) of Springboro (30-13).
175: Marcos Velasquez (Sr.) of Northmont (29-7) placed 3rd with a 5-1 decision over Noah Wazgar (Jr.) of Beavercreek (32-11). Fletcher Rose (Sr.) of Miamisburg (24-1) placed 1st with a 6-4 decision over Aydan George (Sr.) of Centerville (35-4).
190: Devin Jones (Jr.) of Northmont (22-7) placed third by a fall in 2:22 over Colton Lemons (So.) of Miamisburg (26-15). Matt Kowalski (Jr.) of Springboro (38-4) took 1st place with an 11-2 major decision over John Moyer (Jr.) of Centerville (32-9).
