It’s all about me

Here is an update on what the hell is going on with me. I’m telling you even if you don’t care.

I have been trying since July to get my hooded eyelids fixed along with a benign growth on one eyelid and some little white spots on my lower lids.

Finally, after months of cancellations and doctors leaving and coming I was scheduled for Valentines Day 2024. Yeah! In late January I had my blood work and EKG done and that is when the problems started.

Everything was pretty normal, but my primary doc said she was a bit concerned about something on the EKG that had been seen in 2020 but never advised to follow-up on.

She scheduled me for an echogram and after asking me about any symptoms I might have, which I did not have any, she decided that maybe because I snored that I may have sleep apnea. She wanted me to get that test and in the meantime see a cardiologist. Wonderful.

Luckily, I could see the cardiologist two days before my scheduled eye surgery. But, alas, he advised me to cancel the surgery even though I was not going to have general anesthesia. He thought it could be a problem.

With a heavy heart, I let my eye surgeon know my plight and hope to be able to do it soon.

Oh, yeah, by the way, the cardiologist wanted me to get a minor league heart cath. Well, why not, in for a penny, in for a pound.

Yesterday, I had my cath. Let me tell you, it was as easy as having blood drawn. I checked in at 7 a.m. met up with about 10 people who asked me the same questions many times while they were handing me gowns and sticking needles in my arms.

Next, a new team of about 10 people pushed me into another room and that gave them permission to ask me the same questions again and stick more needles in my arm.

The best part of being in the new room was I had to lay flat on my back with no pillow and try to pretend that I was not having quite a bit of discomfort in my back.

Finally, someone noticed I was writhing in pain and gave me some blankets under my legs to prevent paralysis.

I waited in that room for about 2 minutes before the doc arrived. Actually, it was two docs, the cardiologist and the resident who did the cath. No anesthesia was necessary and within 20 minutes, I was done and heading back to my clothes and civilization as I know it.

Someone was supposed to call my daughter-in-law to tell her I was ready to be picked up, but no one did. So, I got dressed and got the heck out of dodge and called her myself. We made our getaway and went for breakfast.

I actually haven’t seen any doctors yet, but since I had no problems except a faulty EGK, I think the prognosis is sleep apnea.

It appears that scheduling your own appointments for any doctor visit requires a referral. Must be a Texas thing. So now I’m waiting for the doctor to send a referral to the sleep place.

Hopefully, this will take place next week. But the cardiologist hasn’t said I could go ahead with the eye surgery so it’s back to square one for that.

I’m still going to my daughters for 4 days in mid-March to celebrate her big 60th birthday and go gambling in Indiana.

Who would have thought it, but gambling is not legal in Texas. But it’s OK for Texas to be host for 3 million illegal immigrants from everywhere.

Our governor must have stock in busing companies because he sure knows how to use them. Thank goodness.

That’s the latest about me. I’ll update as warranted.
