PREBLE COUNTY — Voters will find incumbent Preble County Commissioner Rachael Vonderhaar on the Tuesday, March 18, primary election ballot.

In a campaign announcement released last week, it was noted, “Vonderhaar, a dedicated advocate for transparency and a proponent of conservative values, proudly declares her bid for re-election as Preble County Commissioner. In her initial term, Vonderhaar has proven herself as a servant leader, embodying a commitment to fiscal responsibility and integrity that has reshaped the county’s trajectory.

The release continued, “Vonderhaar’s first term as Preble County Commissioner witnessed the successful implementation of a fiscally conservative approach, steering the county toward a positive financial outlook. She helped implement a plan to cut out the middle-man from the County Health Insurance plan, saving around $30,000 per year. Working hand-in-hand with fellow elected officials to care for Preble County, through meticulous budgeting and strategic financial management, Vonderhaar played a pivotal role in reversing economic challenges, placing Preble County on a solid foundation for growth and prosperity.”

“Crucial to the county’s continued progress, Rachael Vonderhaar seeks re-election to ensure her leadership persists in guiding Preble County towards a brighter and more sustainable future,” her campaign added. “This commitment is echoed by the groundswell of support she has garnered, including endorsements from the Preble County Fraternal Order of Police, past Preble County Commissioner David Wesler, community members Larry and Cheryl Shafer, Julie and Greg Bruns, Jerry and Jo Wick, among many others. Vonderhaar is also supported by the Dayton Realtors Association, who evaluated the candidates in this election and announced their support for her campaign.

“Recognizing her impactful conservative leadership, U.S. Senator JD Vance has endorsed Rachael Vonderhaar, highlighting her significant contributions to the community,” the campaign announcement stated.

“Vonderhaar’s promise for transparency has been undeniably fulfilled, as demonstrated by the successful access to commission meetings on the county’s website (www.prebco.org,)” the release continued. “Prior to her first term, residents had limited means to engage with the commission’s proceedings, necessitating in-person attendance during weekday meetings. Vonderhaar’s dedication to openness has facilitated greater community involvement and understanding.”

“For further insight into Rachael Vonderhaar’s impact, we encourage residents to engage with the meetings available on the county’s website,” the release noted. “Witness firsthand the transparency and accountability she has delivered, solidifying her commitment to keeping the public informed.”

”As Rachael Vonderhaar embarks on her re-election campaign, the community can trust in her unwavering dedication to conservative values, transparency, and integrity. Preble County can look forward to a continued era of responsible governance and positive progress under her proven leadership,” it continued.

When it comes to taxes, her campaign explained Vonderhaar’s plan for her next term is very intentional: “Preble County should collect what it must, keep what it needs, and find creative ways to return what’s left to the taxpayer through vital services or directly into their pocket.”

Rachael and her husband Alan Vonderhaar “have been blessed with 28 years of marriage, three children: Adam, Ryan and Caroline, a beautiful life in Israel Township, Preble County,” the release noted. “Vonderhaar sees the future of Preble County as a thriving place to call home for our children and grandchildren, rooted in a positive future for growth.”
