EATON — Tornadoes which tore through several Ohio counties and in neighboring Indiana last week have spurred the desire for communities to come together and help.

Many are recovering from the tornadoes and severe weather which claiming lives and injured at least 25, according to officials. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine declared an emergency, sending the Ohio National Guard to assist with the cleanup in Logan County, where an EF-3 tornado killed three people as it followed its path of destruction. Other counties included in the emergency declaration, along with neighboring Darke County are Auglaize, Crawford, Delaware, Hancock, Licking, Mercer, Miami, Richland, and Union. The declaration ordered all relevant state departments and agencies to lend services, equipment, supplies, and personnel to assist in the response and recovery effort.

“Multiple intense supercells impacted the north central and northeastern portions of central Indiana,” the National Weather Service said in a preliminary report, “creating large hail and wind damage in those counties and over the state border into Ohio.”
