BROOKVILLE — City Manager Jack Kuntz informed the park board emails and letters were sent to the various civic organizations reminding them that Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. until noon is the annual city parks clean-up day.

Kuntz also said the city is encouraging residents to volunteer to help clean up of the city parks.

The city has reserved the Montgomery County Community Pride Clean-up supply trailer to help with the clean up of the city parks.

The trailer is stocked with tools and materials to help in the removal of debris and litter.

The list of tools in the trailer include gas-powered lawn mowers, gas-powered line trimmers, garden and drain spades, gas-powered leaf blowers, gas can, bow saws, rakes (bow, landscape, leaf), shovels (square and round), cloth gloves, latex gloves, goggles, earplugs, safety glasses, brooms, aluminum dust pans, trash cans with lids, garbage bags, standard and pole pruners, pitch forks, hedge shears, electric hedge trimmer, loppers and wheelbarrows.

The Montgomery County Environmental Services staff members will deliver the trailer to Golden Gate Park, located at 545 Upper Lewisburg-Salem Road. The county staff members will also retrieve the trailer.

The park board will provide hot dogs and refreshments in Golden Gate Park’s shelter #3 at the conclusion of the clean-up event.

Kuntz told the park board the city has all the beverages and is in the process of getting the hot dogs and the buns.

In other matters, Kuntz told the park board park rentals are up $265 through the end of February as compared to 2023.

Kuntz said city staff is slowly getting into park agreements with the various sports leagues.

Kuntz noted the city has received all the needed information from the Brookville Soccer Association and the adult softball league.

Kuntz said he is still waiting for the information from the Brookville Baseball Club and the Brookville Pee Wee Football Club.

Kuntz informed the park board the electric box near the tennis courts in Golden Gate Park will be checked by the public works department to ascertain why the electricity goes out at that location.

Park board members noted in past meetings the electricity at that location has stopped working on various occasions during the annual Christmas in the Park event.

“They will be addressing that issue so it will be ready for the Christmas event next year,” Kuntz said.
