Shawnee reviews strategic plan

CAMDEN – The Preble Shawnee Board of Education reviewed updates to the district’s strategic plan during its Tuesday, March 12, regular meeting, updates which included a revised mission statement.

“Our mission statement now is ‘Preble Shawnee local school district is committed to building trusting partnerships with all members of our community. We prepare all learners by providing high quality future-ready educational experiences, that empower and inspire them to realize their full potential,” Superintendent Todd Bowling shared.

The plan was initially finalized in May 2022.

“One of the things our consultant from the ESC talked about was, we have kindergarteners right now who will get jobs that are not yet been created, because we don’t know what things will be like. Our vision is to empower inspire all learners to realize their full potential, empowerment, inspiration, and realization of potential. Our core values are collaboration among staff, amongst community, amongst parents, amongst board members, trusting relationships, academic excellence, school pride, community and integrity and trust,” he continued.

Bowling went on to share the updates to the plan, which centered around strategies to improve academic achievement, retain quality teachers, and support student well-being. The plan emphasizes the importance of personalized learning, professional development, and effective communication. And discusses ways to enhance academic programs, such as project-based learning and partnerships with the community and alumni.

Bowling highlighted the need for assessing student growth and achievement, particularly in the elementary grades. Overall, the plan emphasizes the need for improved communication and support to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
